Here’s a recipe for a classic apple tart for 4 to 6 people, a timeless dessert that combines the sweetness of caramelized apples with the crispness of golden pastry. Simple to make, it’s perfect for an afternoon snack or a comforting end to a meal!

Ingrédients

  • 1 shortcrust pastry (homemade or store-bought)

  • 5 to 6 apples (Golden or Gala type)

  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder (optional)

  • 20 g butter

  • 1 tablespoon apricot jam or honey (for the finish)

Instructions

  • Oven and dough preparation : Preheat oven to 180°C (gas mark 6). Unroll the shortcrust pastry and spread it out in a tart tin. Prick the bottom of the pastry with a fork to prevent it from puffing up during baking.
  • Preparing the apples : Peel the apples, remove the core and seeds, then slice thinly and evenly.
  • Arrange the apples: Arrange the apple slices in a rosette on the pastry, starting from the outside and overlapping slightly for a pretty, harmonious visual effect.
  • Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon: Sprinkle the apples with powdered sugar and cinnamon, if you wish to add a light spicy flavour.
  • Add the butter: Spread small pieces of butter over the tart, allowing the apples to caramelize and melt.
  • Cooking : Place the tart in the oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until the apples are tender and lightly browned, and the pastry is crisp.
  • Icing When the apples come out of the oven, brush them with a thin layer of apricot jam or honey. This will add a nice shine and a touch of extra sweetness.

This classic apple tart is a simple yet deliciously comforting dessert. With its melt-in-the-mouth apples and subtle caramel and cinnamon flavor, it’s sure to delight fans of traditional desserts. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for a real moment of indulgence! Bon appétit!
