Homemade chicken nuggets are a real treat, and much healthier than those bought ready-made. With the airfryer, you get crispy nuggets without having to use large quantities of oil. Perfect for a party, an aperitif or a quick meal, they’re as easy to prepare as they are delicious to eat.

Ingrédients

  • 500 g chicken fillets

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko breadcrumbs for optimal crunchiness)

  • 1/2 cup flour

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • Salt and pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the chicken Cut chicken fillets into uniformly sized pieces (approx. 2-3 cm square) for even cooking.
  • Prepare the breadcrumbs In three separate bowls:
Place the flour with a pinch of salt and pepper in the first bowl.
Beat the eggs in the second bowl.
Mix the breadcrumbs, paprika and garlic powder in the third bowl.
  • Bread the chicken pieces :
Coat each piece of chicken in the flour, then in the beaten eggs, and finally in the breadcrumbs. Press lightly so that the breadcrumbs adhere well.
  • Airfryer cooking :
    Preheat the airfryer to 180°C.
Brush the nuggets lightly with a little olive oil to crisp them up.
Arrange the nuggets in the airfryer basket in a single layer (avoid overlapping for even cooking).
Bake for 10-12 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden brown and crisp.
  • Serve Once cooked, serve the nuggets immediately with the sauce of your choice (ketchup, barbecue sauce, yoghurt sauce, etc.).

Notes

  • Use Panko: Panko breadcrumbs, coarser than conventional breadcrumbs, make nuggets even crispier. You can also mix fine breadcrumbs with panko for a balanced crunch.
  • Dry the chicken: Before breading, dry the chicken pieces with kitchen paper. This helps the flour and breading to adhere better.

These homemade airfryer chicken nuggets are a lighter alternative to the deep-fried versions, and just as tasty. In just a few minutes, you’ll have crispy, juicy pieces of chicken, perfect for young and old alike. Enjoy them guilt-free, and experiment by adding your favorite spices to vary the flavors!
